Retail has always been about the customer experience. Today, that customer experience includes a lot of diverse elements, requiring applications and services that need network and computing power.
Unfortunately, a significant number of retailers feel they can’t introduce the applications and services their customers demand. In a recent survey at RetailEXPO 2019, Cybera found that 23% of respondents had not introduced new services into their stores in the last 12 months. Holding companies back were cost, IT security concerns and a belief that their network would not be able to support additional applications.
As the internet of things becomes more important for this industry, retailers find themselves in a pretty difficult position.
